Penelope Copenhaver, OD

Penelope M. Copenhaver, OD joined Western Carolina Eye Associates in 2009. Dr. Copenhaver was raised in New Jersey and also has strong roots in Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Rutgers with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. In addition to primary care, she has extensive education in Low Vision and Binocular vision. She is extremely successful in finding the correct prescription for the most difficult eyes, especially with multi-focal contact lenses.

As a mother of six children, Dr. Copenhaver is a natural in children’s exams but thoroughly enjoys patients of all ages. When she is not busy providing patient care, she and her husband devote all of their time to focusing on their children’s education and hobbies. Her family enjoys visiting museums, local concerts, playing golf and volunteering at their church. Dr. Copenhaver provides eye care in Boone on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and she is in our Jefferson location on Wednesday.
