Low Vision

Low Vision

My name is Bonnie and I work with the low vision department of Western Carolina Eye Associates.  I am dedicated to helping patients with low vision to get back to their daily activities by training them on low vision devices.  My favorite part of working with low vision is when someone holds a magnifier up to a piece of reading material and they light up because they can read it.

Did you know that a person is considered to have low vision if they cannot be corrected better than 20/40?  It is best to begin low vision products earlier in the stages of visual loss to acclimate yourself to your new surroundings.  Low vision can be caused by multiple different eye diseases; such as Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, just to name a few.

We have multiple different pieces of equipment that may be able to help you, or someone you know, read again.  I would love to work with you to see if we can find what would work best for you.  Call today for a free consultation (828) 264-0042.  I can travel to Boone, Ashe, or Avery.
